Gertrude (Trudy) Eugenia Simmons Birchfield. Born to Hildreth Eugene Simmons, Sr and Sylvia Chavers Simmons on August 8, 1936 in Flomaton AL. She lived in Albany, GA for over 50 years.
After a long battle with dementia, Jesus came and took her home to be with him, her parents, her husband, William (Bill) Birchfield, her brother, Hildreth Eugene (Gene) Simmons, Jr and her grandson, Shawn Eugene Mortland.
She was survived by her children, Deborah Reeves, Cyndi (Jon) Bell, Randy (Virginia) Flick and Linda (Rhett) Iler; grandchildren, Julian (Michelle) Martin, Travis Martin, Melissa Mortland, Christian Flick, Scott Flick and Andrew (Bethany) Iler; 10 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, numerous cousins and many friends who love her dearly.
She worked at First State Bank and Trust and C & S State Bank retiring in the late 1980s, then went to work for Waddell & Reed before retiring again. She met many people through work who became life long friends to her and her family.
She will forever be in the hearts of all who love her.
